Hazy Horizons explores the concept of liminality, which is the threshold state where transformation occurs; where identities are formed, unformed, and reformed—and where the boundaries between the known and the unknown, the self and the other, blur and interweave.
In an era with heightened connection and isolation, individuals develop a unique sense of belonging and self-recognition, which could influence our respect for others’ identity, emotions, abilities, and pace of life. Therefore, liminality is needed to allow for a macroscopic view and foster microscopic care.
This physical and psychological space of liminality can serve as a platform for opening ways to respect and care for ourselves and others. Rather than adapting a linear narrative from beginning to end, our exhibition aims to connect the many moments before and after, among audiences, artworks, and practitioners. By bringing together the voices of artists who learn from human and non-human perspectives, the exhibition highlights the inherent resilience and adaptability of diverse ways of living.
